<p>When people think of ways they can diet, one of the first ones they will consider is the <strong>Atkins Diet</strong>. <h3>What does the Atkins Diet do to your body?</h3>
<p>The first thing you’ll need to do when you start your diet is to reduce the amount of carbohydrates you consume. When the carbs are eliminated, your body goes into a ketosis state. What does ketosis mean for your body? It means it is being deceived, thinking it’s hungry when it may not be.</p>
<p>With little carbohydrates in the body, it turns to using the glycogen instead of energy glucose it would like to have. This is what carbohydrates turn into after the body has broken it down. The human body will store nearly three times the water as the glycogen. This means that more water is lost, weight included, during the induction phase. <h3>Negative consequences of the Atkins Diet on the body</h3>
<p>Physicians, not too keen on the Atkins Diet say that you place a strain on your kidneys when your body is in ketosis.  Many are in agreement that being in ketosis for an extended period of time will break down your muscle tissue. It’s also been found that if you stop doing the Atkins Diet, you will gain the weight back quickly.</p>
<p>After you have been doing the Atkins Diet for a couple of weeks, begin to introduce carbs back into your meals and diet. However, this process should be done gradually until your body stops losing weight. When your body stops losing weight with the carbohydrates, this allows you to know how much carbohydrate you can take in without gaining weight and eat less of that amount.</p>

<p>There are many reasons why a person should or should not consider doing the Atkin’s Diet. They include:</p>

<li>Diet filled with high cholesterol.</li>
<li>Diet linked heart disease and high saturated fat.</li>
<li>Foods that have substances for fighting cancer are low in the Atkin’s Diet.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Is the Atkins Diet worth it?</h3>
<p>The Atkins Diet should never be considered as a long-term weight loss program because of its lack of healthy foods and the unhealthy side effects. Yet, it does work for the short term. If you feel weak, you need to eat more carbs and make sure you drink at least eight glasses of water every day.</p>

Remember that your muscle tissue will burn the calories you need to burn off even when you rest so it’s imperative to have enough muscle tissue. When you lack muscle tissue, your body is unable to rid itself of the calories you need to maintain and lose your weight. This doesn’t help in your ability to lose weight once you decide to stop doing the low carb diet.</p>
<p>Many people love the immediate weight loss they get with the low carbohydrate diet. Yet, they don’t do it for a long-term result. In fact, many Hollywood actors and actress will use the low carb diet for a movie role, if they should need it.</p>
<h3>Does the Low Carb Diet Equal A Healthy Diet?</h3>
<p>Actually, a low carbohydrate diet isn’t very healthy because your body will not get the vitamins and nutrients it needs to survive and stay healthy. Remember that you need to eat fruits, grains and vegetables and the low carbohydrate diet doesn’t allow for that.</p>
<p>When you look at the low carb diet alongside the Atkin’s Diet, they both lack in matters of vitamins and nutrients. In fact, the Atkin’s Diet can hurt your kidneys by the amount of protein you ingest.</p>
<p>A possible negative consequence of a low carb diet is the constant dieting yo-yo, from trying to lose weight and gaining it back. This can lead to a serious health problem down the road.</p>
