Tesco Diets
When you decide to make a life-altering change regarding how you eat, you’re bound to do research on the kinds of non-fad diets that are out on the market. No doubt you have heard of the low carb diet? It, like the Atkin’s Diet, has been floating around for a period of time. Yet, do they both work? Are both of them considered safe? These are the questions that are on any dieters’ mind as they ponder and sift through the many diets.

If you wonder what the low carb diet entails, it’s based on the idea that the person who eats a low carb diet will reduce the amount of insulin in their body thus leading to fat and protein stores to be used as the body’s main source of energy.

The overall goal is to compel the body in using the fat instead of insulin as an energy source. When the body is able to do this, the person will produce “ketone bodies” that will energize certain body parts that is unable to use the fat. This typically means red blood cells and the brain. When a person is suffering from ketosis (generally occurring from the above situation), there is a smell that is similar to nail varnish and the person may suffer nausea and fatigue side effects.

So Does the Low Carbohydrate Diet Actually Work?

If you are looking to lose weight for a short period of time, then it is possible to lose weight with the low carbohydrate diet. The weight can be lost rather quickly. Yet, there is a drawback. Most of the weight loss comes from water and muscle tissue, which is not where you want to lose the weight. Your goal is lose fat.

If you are looking to lose the weight for the long-term, you certainly don’t want to lose the muscle tissue. Remember that your muscle tissue will burn the calories you need to burn off even when you rest so it’s imperative to have enough muscle tissue. When you lack muscle tissue, your body is unable to rid itself of the calories you need to maintain and lose your weight. This doesn’t help in your ability to lose weight once you decide to stop doing the low carb diet.

Many people love the immediate weight loss they get with the low carbohydrate diet. Yet, they don’t do it for a long-term result. In fact, many Hollywood actors and actress will use the low carb diet for a movie role, if they should need it.

Does the Low Carb Diet Equal A Healthy Diet?

Actually, a low carbohydrate diet isn’t very healthy because your body will not get the vitamins and nutrients it needs to survive and stay healthy. Remember that you need to eat fruits, grains and vegetables and the low carbohydrate diet doesn’t allow for that.

When you look at the low carb diet alongside the Atkin’s Diet, they both lack in matters of vitamins and nutrients. In fact, the Atkin’s Diet can hurt your kidneys by the amount of protein you ingest.

A possible negative consequence of a low carb diet is the constant dieting yo-yo, from trying to lose weight and gaining it back. This can lead to a serious health problem down the road.
